SMS Consent & Opt-In Disclosure
About Our Messaging Practices
Community Science Communications (CSC) provides community engagement services on behalf of renewable energy developers and project sponsors. All SMS communications are sent only to individuals who have directly opted in to receive project-specific updates.
We do not send unsolicited messages, marketing blasts, or broad promotional SMS.
How We Collect SMS Consent
We collect mobile numbers solely from individuals who voluntarily provide their phone number and agree to receive updates. Consent may be obtained in the following ways:
1. Door-to-Door Petition Signatures
Supporters may provide their mobile number on a petition or community support card during door-to-door outreach.
All petition cards include clear, printed opt-in language stating that by providing their number, they agree to receive informational text updates related to local projects and community meetings.
2. Live Events, Meetings & Community Sessions
At public events, informational meetings, and landowner gatherings, attendees may provide their number on paper sign-in sheets or digital forms.
Staff verbally explain that SMS updates may be sent, and signage reinforces the opt-in disclosure.
Verbal Script Below:
"By providing your mobile number, you agree to receive occasional informational text updates related to community meetings and project news. Message frequency varies and you can reply stop at any time to unsubscribe or help for help.”
3. Online Web Forms / Digital Sign-Ups
Supporters may also submit their phone number through web forms hosted on CSC sites or project-specific sites we manage.
These forms prominently display required SMS opt-in language before submission.
